Former Ireland star Alan Quinlan believes that England are not ‘showing enough ambition in attack’ following their defeat at the hands of Scotland.
The Red Roses will need to bounce back to form if they are to challenge for the Six Nations trophy, though they have the tough task of facing Ireland next.
Speaking about England’s hopes, Quinlan told Betway: “This is no disrespect to them but they are the one team really guilty of kicking the leather off the ball and keeping things quite simple and not showing any ambition in attack.
“It will be interesting to see if they change their approach against Ireland. I commentated on some of their games in the World Cup and it wasn’t great. Now English fans might come back at me and say well we got to the semi-finals and you didn’t with all your fancy rugby!
“There is a balance, If you’re controlling the tempo and the scoreboard and winning ugly fair enough. But England are better than what they have shown. The profile of the players they have if the shackles come off a little bit they could be very dangerous. They will always have that power up front and pace in their back line. They need to attack more.”
